Can Martha Know? Can Mary Serve? Changing Places in the University

Dorothy Lander

This research article illustrates my historical and critical narrative approach to tracing and reconstituting the social-spatial practices of the polarized cultures of service and knowledge within the university. This research raises possibilities for remapping the epistemic terrain of the university by offering alternative speaking positions, and alternative places for men and women across the bounds of service-knowledge.
